| During the spring
and summer months of 1986, the four wavy lines in the cancel became
inverted. This presumably happened when the printing block (the wavy-line
pattern) was removed temporarily in connection with the use of the "Færøerne
i Focus" slogan. The machine, with the lines inverted, was used for several
days before the mistake was discovered and corrected. |

is possible that the printing block may have been inverted for only a short

It is reported that
Postverk Føroya's staff on the early morning shift couldn't use the new
machine. So, that morning's mail was cancelled with the "Port Payé" (postage
paid) machine. However, the new machine was operational later that day. |
